Platelet-rich plasma enhances your body’s natural ability to heal itself. If you’re looking for an effective form of regenerative medicine that doesn’t cost as much as stem cells or amniotic fluid, platelet-rich plasma can provide relief from a wide range of painful conditions involving tissue damage. It’s also suitable for aesthetic treatments, including hair restoration and non-surgical facelifts.
PRP injections provide healing power for injuries and are a wonderful non-surgical aesthetic procedure. Do you have an injury and would like to experience a more youthful appearance? Call us at 305-666-8883 and let's see if PRP is right for you!
Whatever your health status, the doctors at our medical clinic will answer all of your questions. We will help you decide if platelet-rich plasma could help you.
PRP Injection
When you come in for your treatment, your platelet-rich plasma injection is prepared right here in our clinic using a small sample of your own blood. The technician will draw a little of your blood to be processed to separate the platelet-rich plasma from the other components in your blood, using high-precision technology.
In contrast to regenerative tissue injections that contain stem cells and amniotic fluid injections, platelet-rich plasma does not rely on any donor tissue, resulting in a lower-cost treatment that is often equally as effective, depending on the specific circumstances of the patient’s condition.
Platelet-Rich Plasma Therapy
Platelets are found in the blood and get their name from their plate-like appearance as seen through a microscope. Technically, platelets are not blood cells. They do not have a nucleus—but rather cell “fragments.” Their primary role involves the promotion of blood clotting. Platelets also play an essential role in the body’s healing process. They contain multiple growth factors and other powerful constituents, including IGF-1 (insulin-like growth factor 1), interleukin 8, transforming growth factor beta, keratinocyte growth factor, fibroblast growth factor, vascular endothelial growth factor, and connective tissue growth factor.
When tissue damage occurs anywhere within the body, the brain sends a chemical signal that lets the platelets know they are needed at the injury site. Available platelets travel in the blood to the site where the tissue has been damaged. This helps promote healing.
With platelet-rich plasma therapy, the platelets from your blood sample are separated from the other components of the blood and made into highly concentrated plasma.
When injected into your injured tissue, the platelet-rich plasma delivers many more platelets than would otherwise be available. This provides a powerful boost to the body’s ability to repair and regenerate the damaged tissue.
PRP Treatment
Platelet-rich plasma is a highly effective treatment for conditions where additional stimulation of the body’s natural repair mechanisms is called for. It is especially effective for chronic, slow healing conditions or unlikely to heal completely on their own.
Common conditions that can benefit from platelet-rich plasma include:
- Neck pain, back pain, shoulder pain, elbow pain, hip pain, or any other joint pain
- Many forms of arthritis
- Pain caused by an injury or from normal aging
- Damaged cartilage
- Torn ligaments and tendons
- Bone issues
- Neuropathy and other nerve issues
- Foot pain, including plantar fasciitis
- Aesthetic treatments such as scar and wrinkle reduction
