Corrective Care VS Relief Care

The main difference between corrective care vs relief care is that corrective care treats the underlying cause of a problem rather than just masking the symptoms with medication or surgery, as is the case in relief care. Both are important, but when you break each one down, you see the reason why corrective care outweighs the benefits of relief care.

Relief Care

Relief care is designed to specifically focus on symptoms. Relief care is often referred to as a short-term solution. A good example is if a person has a headache or migraine due to a misaligned vertebrae causing issues with the nerves.

Relief care would include taking a pain-killer or blood thinner to temporarily relieve the symptoms of the headache or migraine. It does not address the actual underlying cause of the migraine.

Another great example of relief care is when someone has degenerative knee pain. Braces, pain killers, Cortisone, and even surgery may all be considered relief care. They will mask the symptoms of the knee pain, and may even improve function of the knee.

However, after the painkillers wear off, the knee brace comes off, etc….the pain comes back, more often with increased severity. Relief care is an ongoing undertaking since the root of the problem has not been addressed.

Corrective Care

Corrective Care is care that is necessary to alleviate the actual cause of a problem. Regarding the example above about the degenerative knee pain…corrective care would include Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) injections and/or stem cell therapy. These injections are meant to help facilitate regeneration of deteriorated tissues. Once treated successfully, the pain subsides. Corrective care promotes healing.

The spine provides structural support to neural tissues so the central nervous system can function properly. Spine misalignment is a common underlying factor when it comes to health related issues. A chiropractor utilizes special techniques that focus on restoring alignment and balance to the spine.

The main reasons to seek corrective care from a chiropractor generally include migraines, headaches, neck pains, back pains, joint pain, weak immune system, brain fog, and certain organ dysfunctions.

Benefits of Proper Spine Alignment

Good spine alignment is very important for your overall health. Everyone experiences different benefits from a properly aligned spine.

The most common benefits encountered include:

  • Reduced pressure on the nerves
  • Improved organ function
  • Optimal nerve flow
  • Improved Sleep
  • Better Focus
  • Increased healing capabilities
  • More Energy
  • Boost in overall well being
