What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a system of healthcare that evaluates the condition of the spine and its effects on the nervous system. As the vertebrae of the spine become displaced or misaligned, abnormal stress and pressure are placed upon the nerves. This condition is referred to as a "vertebral subluxation".

Subluxations can be caused gradually by long periods of poor posture, poor work in conditions, emotional or chemical stress, and even the birthing process. Subluxations can also occur rapidly during sports, automobile, or work related accidents. Regardless of how subluxations occur, they are the cause of most of the unwanted conditions that people suffer from everyday.

What Do Chiropractors Do?

Chiropractors utilize orthopedic tests, postural exams, x-rays, and specific chiropractic techniques to locate and correct subluxations. If subluxations are present, specific adjustments are performed to normalize the spinal structure. By normalizing the structure and reducing vertebral subluxations that cause nerve pressure, the brain is able to communicate with the rest of the body via the spinal cord and spinal nerves without interference. Upon the removal of nervous system interference, individual health potential may be restored.

When To Visit a Chiropractor

Pain and symptoms are the end result of problems that have been present in the body over long periods of time. They are the body signals that something is drastically wrong. While chiropractors have had great success in reducing pain and symptoms by correcting the underlying cause, the better approach is to prevent the cause of discomforting body signals. After all, your spine is no different than your teeth or automobile; it must be maintained throughout your life time to achieve the highest level of performance. So before problems arise, see us for a spinal check-up.
